Update

VerifiedLink was introduced as a public-interest initiative exploring hyperlink transparency and hyperlink truth verification. Active rollout of the extension has been paused while development priorities are redirected to other initiatives.

We appreciate the interest and support shown for this project.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does VerifiedLink do?

VerifiedLink detects hyperlinks where the visible link text appears to point to one domain but the actual destination is different.

Why is this important?

Deceptive links are commonly used in phishing attacks, scam emails, and fake login pages.

Does VerifiedLink track browsing activity?

No. VerifiedLink performs its analysis locally in the browser and does not collect or transmit browsing data.

Does it work on every link?

VerifiedLink focuses on links where the visible text clearly looks like a domain name or web address. This helps reduce false positives.

What can I do if I get false positives during web development?

You can disable the extension during the session. Remember to enable it when you are browsing the web.

What happens when a suspicious link is clicked?

VerifiedLink warns the user before navigation and shows the displayed domain and the actual destination domain.

Is VerifiedLink free?

Yes. The public version is free.
